Just received press kit about this update from Canon China. The wording in it suggests that the update is free for users of High level EOS cameras such as 1D C/X, 5D Mk3 and 6D, rather than to all EOS users.
The new DPP 4.0 will include 8-axis gamut adjustment, automatic analysis on highlight and shadow area of the histogram, automatic adjustment on tone, brightness and etc, rating system, new GUI, and preview function, which can show as many as 10,000 images “each time”.
and a special note in the EU 3 section reads “when cameras other than the aforementioned 4 models connect to the computer, EU 2.14 will start” rather than 3.0.
