There are only a couple of Canon 5DS cameras floating around in the US for reviewers to play around with prior to the DSLR arriving on store shelves in June. Portrait photographer Peter Hurley managed to get his hands on one of them. In the video above by Resource Magazine, Hurley uses the camera for two headshot shoots and shares his first impressions of the camera’s capabilities.
“Medium format has a ‘look’ to it, and I think the pros who like using medium format cameras are probably going to stick around with the medium format thing,” Hurley says. “But this immediately gets all the professionals who are shooting DSLRs to not have to change all their lenses and to get the file that’s beefy enough to look like a medium format camera.”

Started out doing photography at the age of 6 using an uncle's old 1940 kodak brownie box camera. At 15 years of age, I decided to buy my very own 1975 Praktica SLR camera. I now shoot with a Nikon D850. I do unpaid TFP and commercial paid work.
