DxOMark looks into lenses for the Sony SLT-A99

Our friends and collaborators over at DxOMark have been looking into how lenses score on specific cameras, and their latest round-up takes a look at Sony’s 24MP full frame flagship, the SLT-A99. The article covers 22 lenses, including both current models from the likes of Sony, Sigma and Zeiss, and some older Konica Minolta optics. Interesting, but I wish more lenses were covered in this review, especially some old Minolta lenses such as:
300F2.8, 200F2.8, 200F4.0 marco, 100F2.0, 35F2.0, 24F2.8, “Special handshake” 28-135F3.5-4.5, etc.

the “secret handshake” Minolta AF 28-135mm is not so special in my opinion, or maybe I just haven’t found out yet how to use it properly…

It’s interesting to see how different people have different opinion on particular lenses. Probably lens variation is an important element in this.
In my experience the 28-135 is better (sharper) than any Sony lens I ever mounted on the A900/A99. Better than the CZ24-70 and much better than the Sony 28-75.

My view is that it’s a very sharp lens with great range, but not without practical issues (flare, weight, wide angle only macro, and -more significantly- long minimum focusing distance)

Is this a less than subtle way of “outing” DXOMark and their willfull neglect of the Sony lenses ( I can see no assessments of the ZA Distagon 24mm and the Planar 135mm that many good judges believe to be the best short telephoto of all ) ?
