Alma wins Web-Documentary award at Visa pour l’Image
Alma, a Tale of Violence, is a web-documentary co-produced by Upian, Arte and Agence Vu, presenting “a raw and poignant testimony from a former member of one of Guatemala’s most violent gangs,” say the producers. “A reformed criminal, Alma tries to resume a normal life despite facing death threats from her former gang associates.”
Dewever Plana and Fougère will receive a €8000 cash prize at a ceremony on 04 September at the Visa pour l’Image photojournalism festival in Perpignan.
La Duce Vita, a web-documentary by Cyril Bérard and Samuel Picas, received a special mention from the jury, which included Daphne Angles of The New York Times; France 24’s Sylvain Attal; Dimitri Beck of Polka magazine; Christophe Champin from RFI; Olivier Laurent of British Journal of Photography; Paris Match’s Benoît Leprince; and Louis Villers of Webdocu.fr.
