So you saw some false patterns, the D7100 in your comparisson does too, at least on some ISO settings.

And the mushyness, well, FujiFilm does look a bit soft in those studio tests (harder to judge in real life situations), but they retain more detail than you would think with that softer look.

Who claimed that FujiFilms sensors break the laws of physics? If you are talking about marketing, I would say that both Nikon and Canon claim so too in marketing, with marketing material talking about the amount of pixels, when in reality a lot of them are lost to noise.

I wonder what brand you should go for, it you cant accept any errors in the picture when zooming in. If it isn’t false patterns, it is often visible noise reduction, or noise that eats the pixels.
If you dont like the softer look, when zooming in, well that is a matter of taste, but since it does not seem to affect the amount of details, anyone is free to enjoy it.
