Sometimes low-tech is simply more reliable. OVFs don’t require power to function, and the image is updated at literally the speed of light.
At any moment whilst in use, a mirrorless camera is powering its sensor, its image processor, and some form of screen, be it an EVF or not. Most of the time your DSLR is turned on, the only components actually drawing power are the AF sensors and possibly motor, the metering system, and if applicable, the top LCD—all of which require minimal power to operate.
Of course, my priorities are showing. What are your priorities?

Started out doing photography at the age of 6 using an uncle's old 1940 kodak brownie box camera. At 15 years of age, I decided to buy my very own 1975 Praktica SLR camera. I now shoot with a Nikon D850. I do unpaid TFP and commercial paid work.
