Many months ago I came across an article interviewing Canon execs in the financial press – Bloomberg?, Financial Times?, I don’t recall, but at one point they emphasized thin profits in photography and a strategic turn to the profitable and underserved security camera market…
In other words, Canon is abandoning photographers for warehouse owners and anti-terrorist subway monitoring. OK- their corp, their game.
To my assessment it correlates with the glaring lack of advanced, competitive product. I call it Sony time!

Started out doing photography at the age of 6 using an uncle's old 1940 kodak brownie box camera. At 15 years of age, I decided to buy my very own 1975 Praktica SLR camera. I now shoot with a Nikon D850. I do unpaid TFP and commercial paid work.
