Bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur, in the out-of-focus areas of an image. You can easily get this spectacular background blur in your photos using a fast prime or macro lens (basically ones with an aperture of f/2.8 or greater), and a technique involving what many call the El Bokeh Wall. Wedding photographer Paul Keppel created this helpful 3-minute video tutorial on how he goes about shooting consistent wedding ring photos using a cheap LED light and a macro lens. Keppel says he struggled to get consistent shots of rings until he started using the Yonynuo 160II LED light, which costs less than $60 online. Photographer Anton Orlov has created what he believes is the world’s first camera that’s both completely transparent and fully functional. It’s called CLERA, short for Clear Camera, and is a camera that you can also look into while a projected photo is being exposed. The basic idea is that you can locate a 50% gray point in a photo even if you didn’t use a gray card during the shoot. Photographer Anton Orlov has created what he believes is the world’s first camera that’s both completely transparent and fully functional. Researchers at MIT and Google have developed a technique for removing unwanted reflections and obstructions from photos. Taking advantage of the parallax effect, this method could prove quite useful in locations where shooting behind glass or a fence is the only option. Strange that there are different interpretations of the images. To me – detail and tonal range seems improved at base ISO (200) over EM5-II. It falls somewhere between the EM5-II and A6000. Both RAW and JPEG. At higher ISOs, i.e. 1600, the GX8 does show more color noise than the E-M5II, slightly, but with still greater detail. I always find Fuji to lack detail, both RAW and JPEG, in every single comparison, including this one. Yes it’s got clean images, up the ISO scale, but show less detail and tonal range. Olympus has patented a sensor technology that records polarization information, potentially allowing in-camera processing to replicate the effect of a polarizing filter but without the light cost. I’m curious just how big the market is for people to buy a $1000 a7 and then a whole bunch of $1000+ lenses. It does matter. I have owned more bodies than most people on this form : Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, canon, Nikon, and Fuji to name a few.
