I guess I am shocked at how ordinary these examples look, I was prepared to be blown away and feel under pressure to buy a new camera. Everyone is frothing at the mouth at how good it is in the dark, but I shoot in the dark about 1% of the time, of course some people may shoot in the dark 99% so this will be a good camera for them. As other reviews already stated, this new 50/1.4 Art Sigma comes very close to the Zeiss Otus, but for only 1/4 of the price. Superb work for Sigma, since the 35/1.8, Sigma is really on fire with their latest Art lens creations – which is a way good thing, competition leads to much better products, the Art 18-35/1.8 is also outstanding in optical quality terms. I expect no less from Sigma with their 24/1.4 when it’ll be released this fall, and the 85/1.4 which is rumored for 2015 must be very good then, too. Go Sigma, go! It is pretty well documented that they heyday of NASA funding coincided with U.S. interest in advancing ICBM technology as part of the nuclear arms race. What a hash-up. The E-P5 was released with the worse shutter shock issue I have ever seen. ONE YEAR on we have a workaround. I will never buy a PEN again, that is for sure. DXO mark: can be useful in looking at performance across different apertures. Trash quality reporting for headline news, and ‘perceptual megapixels’ largely a waste of time, but sounds very convincing for newcomers. As a photographer, I can see how you’d think that, and normally you’d be right, but you do not own the copyright of an image that faithfully reproduces a previous image. PM notification seems useful, but I’d like to be able to turn all forums and comment notifications off permanently. They’re just a bit of visual clutter to me, and having to manually turn them off for threads I’ve posted in, one thread at a time when a notification for that thread appears, is too much hassle. Fine-tuning it, I suppose if you had the option to only get notifications for “subscribed” threads, plus a choice of whether you auto-subscribed when you posted in a thread or not and option to subscribe to an individual thread whether you had posted in it...

Of course, one can easily delete or manipulate EXIF data. But I doubt that this would play a big role for stolen equipment. The photos around on the web will most likely not be posted by the thief himself. They rather will be posted by a buyer of used equipment, not aware that it was stolen. You ask what use cases benefit from Lytro? How about choosing DOF after the fact for artistic reasons? Correcting misfocused shots – arguably a shallow DOF/fast-paced photographer’s dream? Creating animations from a still photo, including the ability to shift perspective and utilize parallax to simulate a 3D image? Simulate an even shallower DOF than what you had at the time of capture? And that says very little about the benefits still to come with video, marriage with light field displays, and so on. These may not appeal to you, but may certainly appeal to ‘some’....
