Jim Barnes sent me a link to one of his videos this week that he uses a Google Earth fly-in to the property at the beginning. Jim’s video is one of the most stunning examples of a fly-in sequence that I’ve seen used for real estate. He combines the Google Earth fly-in with the cloud shot at the beginning, and a crane shot at the end to give the feel that you are flying around at very low altitude. Great job Jim! Jim Barnes sent me a link to one of his videos this week that he uses a Google Earth fly-in to the property at the beginning. Jim’s video is one of the most stunning examples of a fly-in sequence that I’ve seen used for real estate. He combines the Google Earth fly-in with the cloud shot at the beginning, and a crane shot at the end to give the feel that you are flying around at very low altitude. Great job Jim! @marike6 The bottom line in all technology is real-world use. No airplane manufacturer would rate one airplane better than another based on wind-tunnel tests. You have to fly the planes first, then draw the conclusion. Also, there is error in all tests. Even the most rigorous scientific testing, under the most controlled laboratory conditions, carries a standard error. Once results are close enough, they’re a tie. @HowardRoark Agree with your take on “action” pictures. I once shot bullriders at a county fair with an Olympus e-510 and a manual focus 135mm lens. I just focused at the door where the bulls and riders came out, set a small aperture, and the shots were good. I even got a few “How’d you do that?” comments. As far as the SX260 goes, I have an SX230 and the jpegs are overprocessed for sure. However, the SX230 can shoot raw, via CHDK. (Maybe the SX260 can too; I don’t know.) For whatever reason it was a long wait for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 — I counted about six months. Worth waiting for? Yes, for a number of reasons, not all directly to do with image making either. Started out doing photography at the age of 6 using an uncle's old 1940 kodak brownie box camera. At 15 years of age, I decided to buy my very own 1975 Praktica SLR camera. I now shoot with a Nikon D850. I do unpaid TFP and commercial paid work.
