From a business point of view, it’s better to make a profit by selling on your name only, than not making a profit at all, which is currently the case for the other mentioned companies’ imaging divisions.
And to be fair, Canon does offer good, solid products at all levels from entry-level to professional, an extensive system of lenses and accessories, and good customer service.
