Fujifilm has unveiled the GFX 100S, a relatively compact 100MP medium-format camera with in-body image stabilization.
The X100S packs in most of the capabilities of the larger GFX 100, including the same 102MP BSI CMOS 44 x 33mm medium-format sensor. A smaller, updated image stabilization system promises between a 0.5 and 1EV improvement over the performance of the larger camera, giving a claimed rating of up to 6EV of correction. The 100S can also sync its in-body IS system with in-lens correction to maintain this figure at longer focal lengths.
The GFX 100S has a 3.68M dot OLED viewfinder that, unlike the GFX 100 or GFC 50S is fixed in position. It offers the same 0.77x magnification (in full-frame terms) as that of the Fujifilm X-T4. The NP-W235 battery is also shared with the X-T4 and achieves a respectable 460 shots per charge (CIPA).

Nostalgic Negative, a color mode mimicking the look of art photography from the 1970s onwards, becomes the company’s 19th Film Simulation mode.
On the video side, the GFX 100S can shoot DCI or UHD 4K at up to 30 fps and record in H.265 or H.264 at up to 400Mbps. It can also output a 10-bit 4:2:2 video stream or a 12-bit Raw data stream to an external recorder. A digital stabilization option imposes an additional 1.1x crop.
The GFX100S features twin UHS-II card slots and can shoot at up to 5 fps. It also features a 2.36M-dot, 3.2″ touchscreen on a cradle that tilts in two axes, allowing off-axis shooting in both the portrait and landscape orientations.
The GFX 100S will be available from March 2021 with a recommended sales price of $5,999, body only.

The Best of Fujifilm’s Image Making Technology In A Portable, Large Format,*1 Mirrorless Camera Body
Valhalla, N.Y., January 27, 2021 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation is pleased to announce the release of FUJIFILM GFX100S digital camera (GFX100S), the fourth large format mirrorless camera in Fujifilm’s GFX System.
“Fujifilm has taken the groundbreaking ideas that lead to the development of FUJIFILM GFX100 and now combined them with an approach rooted in portability, to create GFX100S — a camera that provides photographers and filmmakers with an unbelievable opportunity to take large format image-making to places it has never been before,” said Victor Ha, senior director of marketing and product development for FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Electronic Imaging Division.
Refusing to sacrifice performance for portability, Fujifilm has developed one of the most compact, high-performance, large format cameras in the world. GFX100S is more advanced than any GFX System camera to date and combines the best of Fujifilm’s imaging technology into a camera that weighs just 1.9lb (900g). Similar in size to most full-frame cameras, but beautifully engineered and designed with a 102MP sensor – 1.7 times larger*1 than a full-frame sensor – GFX100S also offers up to 6-stops*2 of five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS), incredibly fast and accurate autofocus, and world- renowned color reproduction to help image makers push the limits of their creativity.
