Lensbaby is known for crafting unique optics that allow photographs to take creative control of their work. Four of the company’s flagship lenses are now available for Fujifilm’s X Mount system of cameras. Newly available lenses include the Composer Pro with Sweet 35 Optic, Composer Pro with Sweet 50 Optic, Circular Fisheye, and Velvet 56 Portrait Lens.
The Composer Pro is a lens manufactured to get gradually softer as a subject moves away from the center of the lens. Lensbaby calls this fade from a sharp focus center to a heavily blurred outer rim their “Sweet Spot of Focus” creative effect. Both the Sweet 35 and Sweet 50 optic variations have an f-stop range of f/2.5-22; both also include a 46mm sized filter thread.
The Circular Fisheye is an 185-degree lens with a stunning 5.8mm focal length. The lens has an f-stop range of f/3.5-22 and can focus as close as 1/4” from the front element.
Lastly, the Velvet 56 Portrait lens provides photographers with a “velvety, ethereal start” and a “smooth finish” – needless to say, this lens is incredibly soft. However, the effect can be used to create some beautiful photographs. The Velvet 56 Portrait lens has an f-stop range of f/1.6-16 and can shoot 1:2 macro. A metal lens hood is provided with the Fuji X Mount variation of the lens.
