I have recently noticed that I will be in the middle of shooting and all of a sudden a message is displayed that the camera cannot read pic in the format. Strange, because I have been shooting in JPEG. I will continue shooting and pics will be displayed. Right now I pics that I have taken but cannot view them. If someone still reading this, here is a guy shooting with old 85 and 135 lens wide open mounted on old DSLR: www.flickr.com/photos/24808101@N03/ If you check DXO, our 24-120 @ 85mm 5.6 looks significantly better than his stuff at apertures he is shooting. So, I would say, in terms of sharpness, 24-120 is more than enough even for the art gallery. Basically, everything above 0.8 on Nikon’s MTF charts (red line) or yellow color in DXO tests is retina level and higher and could be considered as absolutely sharp when viewing whole image...

I have the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 and used it heavily on my Nikon D300s bodies. Its a fine lens and maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range. I like it a lot and always recommend it to someone looking for fast glass in this zoom range at a price that won’t break the bank. A good friend has the Sigma 17-70 zoom and used it on her D7100 body. She liked it a lot also. This lens is only f/2.8 at its widest setting (17mm) and drops down to f/4 as you zoom to 70mm. Hi, I’ve just bought the 24-120mm nikon lens and looking to get some square filters for it. I’m mainly looking at Cokin and the P series filters will fit the 77mm thread but they suggest going for the larger Z-Pro series as there may be some vignetting between thread sizes 72-82mm with the P series. Started out doing photography at the age of 6 using an uncle's old 1940 kodak brownie box camera. At 15 years of age, I decided to buy my very own 1975 Praktica SLR camera. I now shoot with a Nikon D850. I do unpaid TFP and commercial paid work.
