If you’re a freelancer or work at an agency, well, have you thought about the health of your clients? I’m not talking about whether you have the latest mobile application or a responsive website. read moreA Post By: Gavin Hardcastle Can’t see the wood for the trees? I’ve often struggled with the challenge of photographing trees in a way that captures the imagination and takes the viewer on a journey. I’ve learned that for me, there are two very effective ways to consider and photograph trees. Try asking yourself these two questions: Which tree is the leading actor? Which tree/trees are the supporting actors? I have to thank my mother for this interesting perspective. As a boy I was dragged to many a theatrical play and so I tend to look...
read moreA Post By: Anne McKinnell Whether you’re just getting into photography, or if you’ve been at it for years; you can keep yourself rejuvenated, and keep the creative juices flowing by always trying new things. If you’re feeling uninspired photographically, that’s a sign that you need to shake things up by trying something completely different, or at least something that isn’t your usual style. You might be surprised at how small exercises can boost your creativity while teaching you new techniques and solidifying old principles in...
read moreI downloaded some of the A7s raws from Imaging-Resource, and the higher ISO ones, say above 12,800, don’t really compete with the Nikon D4s. (I have my own D4s raws shot into deep shadow, with bad lighting adjacent.) The Sony is close but not as good for noise control and colour at say ISO 25,600–and the Nikon remains useable thru about ISO 40,000, while the Sony not really. Given the fact that the Sony has fewer pixels in the same space, I’d expected the Sony to do a bit better. Going to prove that Nikon knows something...

read moreA Post By: Bryan Caporicci Everyone can take a picture, but as photographers (professional or aspiring), we have the skill set and the tools to create great images in any situation. We have the ability to turn the ordinary into extraordinary through photography. As the saying goes, the shoemaker’s kids have no shoes, and similarly, we often don’t put the same emphasis on images for ourselves and our family as we do for others and their families. Personally I’ve always struggled with feeling like the “photographer†during...

Today I’m going to show you just how easy to use, and effective Lightroom is, for converting colour photos to powerful black and white images. The end result is that you have more options and get smoother...

I waited, and waited… I was hoping at least they’d bring it out for the Christmas season — the 2013 season, I mean. And now, after all this waiting and hanging in limbo, finally…. They announce it again?? Well, at least they put a date on it this time. June 26, 2014. I hope that’s not a typo, and they didn’t really mean 2016… Source...
read moreI have just gone back to eos-m as my compact camera of choice. I bought an RX100 because the glacial focusing of the eos-m (and inability to focus is low light) was killing me. The RX100 is so close to being perfect but Sony, as usual, destroy their amazing hardware with stupid software. The two that I couldn’t tolerate are the lack of interval timer mode (with no option for remote control, although I believe that the RX100 II does this with a smartphone app) and the pathetic max 0.7eV, 3 shot bracket. I just don’t understand the...
