While hiking in the Beskydy Mountains on the border of Slovakia and the Czech Republic last week, photographer Jan Bainar captured this stunning image of frost-covered tree trunks.
The weather conditions lined up just right to create these wind-blown frost patterns on just one side of the tree trunks across the entire forest Bainar was hiking through. It looks a bit as though frost is exploding out of the center of each trunk.

Started out doing photography at the age of 6 using an uncle's old 1940 kodak brownie box camera. At 15 years of age, I decided to buy my very own 1975 Praktica SLR camera. I now shoot with a Nikon D850. I do unpaid TFP and commercial paid work.
