read moreA Post By: Monica Day You’ve figured out that photography is awesome. You have your equipment. You’ve got the basics down. You know all about the “triangle†of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Now, you’re ready to put them to use. You’re ready to go outside and experiment. But wait. You haven’t yet considered the weather. This is a little side note to photography that we often forget about. If you’re not shooting in a studio, then the weather will definitely be a factor to consider when going out on a shoot. There are a few...
read moreA Post By: Simon Ringsmuth Have you ever returned to your computer with a memory card full of photos and become overwhelmed at the idea of going through all of them? The thought of sorting and analyzing so many pictures can seem so daunting it’s sometimes hard to even know where to start! Often we find ourselves copying the contents of our cameras to our computers and letting our precious memories collect digital dust, though we promise ourselves we will get around to organizing them – someday. Modern technology has made this task easier,...
read moreI beg to differ, my dear DigiMatt.Actually the film used to shoot movies was 35mm, yes, but not the same kind as the one used on 35mm cameras. The 35mm motion pictures film has a black coating on the back of it, impeding regular 35mm labs to develop it. It would leave a grease black sediment in the tanks. This film is also not balanced for daylight, it is tungsten balanced. Don’t ask me why. It comes in 100 foot rolls. back in the day, there was only a lab, in Hollywood, Florida, who bought large amounts of left overs from that film...

read moreI agree they need more lenses. OTOH, I am, personally, quite interested in seeing what SLT can do for AF by allowing for communication btwn the image and AF sensors. On-sensor PDAF has some advantages, as well as some disadvantages, as it’s currently implemented in most systems. So on-sensor PDAF – today – isn’t the end all be all of AF. Hence the investment in SLT as an alternative. It remains to be seen which system works best, depending on your application. Objective AF tracking tests are difficult. I can say that...

read moreDeclarative Programming And The Web By Scott Reynen July 30th, 2014 APICode 0 Comments Like most web developers, I spend my days giving instructions to computers. These instructions generally involve some input (a request for a web page), some logic (get the right content from a database) and some output (send the content to the requesting browser). This process of telling a computer how to perform a task, such as generating a web page, is what we commonly call “programming,†but it’s only a subset of programming: imperative...
read moreA Post By: Francesco Gola In the past few years, thanks to the diffusion of useful accessories and photographic filters with good quality and low prices, the technique of long exposure has become increasingly popular among photography enthusiasts. Even if this technique can be used both in studio and in a urban environment, the perfect playground of long exposures is landscape photography. Unfortunately often it happens that the result we get is far from our expectations, and we end up classifying the long exposure as a demoniacal technique....
